Got a brand new metal knee.
Its only half a knee (called an Oxford) and is much harder to "install".
They opened me up, clamped a jig to upper and lower halves then routed out a notch.
Then used a 90 degree drill guided by a different jig to bore a hole straight up the middle of the notched out half.
Then bonded (glued) the the top and bottom halves.

Surgeons are like tool and die makers sometimes.

Ron, I'm glad you got your new knee!

Hope you're doing better.  That looks to be quite the medical procedure.

That's the trouble with aging, the mechanicals wear out.

Still it's better than the alternative.

Had a disk in my neck done some time back. Same idea. Surgeon measured for the washer, cut the "stock" outa my hip, then machined a 2 pc washer to replace the disk. Still haven't figured out hoe he got it in. All I had was a little razor cut on my collarbone. When I asked him how all he said was "That's why it was so sore"!
Pretty amazing stuff when you think about it.

Oh no! I was thinking about asking a doctor for a way out of Advil and Tylenol. Now, after seeing that video, I think I'm just going to stock up.
That must have hurt like hell.

Hope you're new knee is cool. I also hope that you're feeling much better with your new knee. I wish my grandmother before was able to get that too for her to be able to walk better when she was alive.
