This is an excellent term coined by -- as near as I can tell -- D.R. Lopes on dredge.com. The first time I heard it used I cracked up and that may have been due in part to the definition I applied to myself at the time! LOL!

A forum keyboard weasel can be defined as holding some of the following attributes (especailly #5)

1- The forum they post in is their whole life. Check the time of their first post in the morning and last post at night and how quickly they respond to other's posts. Not much elapsed time because they spend all their waking hours there.

2- Number of posts.. usually the highest number on any board

3- Replies versus subjects. They tend to never post a subject starter and only reply to other's posts thus becoming a sort of intellectual parasite dependent on the the membership to provide the keyboard fodder. It is also the very easiest way to get noticed and involved since it takes much less intellectual depth to reply than to put forth a new raw idea of their own.

4- Breaking up a reply in quotes. These weasels will reply to someone else's post by inserting their comments between the paragraphs of the poster. You've seen this.

"Four score and seven years ago..."
Abby Baby come on now. No one uses SCORE anymore. Use DECADEs like everyone else does for crissake!
"our fathers... "
You mean grand fathers, don't you? That was 87 years ago! Jeezuz

This of course invites multiple new arguments since one is drawn into replying to these mini objections and thereby kills any hope of continuing a cogent discussion on the subject at hand... probably what they want.

My feeling is they don't know how to read a complete thesis and respond with a complete thesis rebuttal. They need to break up responses just to keep order in their cluttered head.

5- finally and most significantly the know it alls. Literally. They have an answer for everything and if they don't they will make one up or will google a reply. Most of them think they can buffalo you with streams of authority sounding like engineering or science blurb... sruff they obviously do not understand. Ego trumps reason... always. I have made every effort on this (my) site to embarrass the KWs by quoting their most fundamentally unsound (read crazy) utterances... from memory mostly, however I would love to discuss them with the KWs here where there is no public board to foul with the adjectives they truly deserve.
